Use voice-guided entry

Summary: You will use the voice assistant built into the incident form to dictate fields in a spoken conversation.

Prerequisites

  • You are on a form that supports manual incident entry: either the New Incident page or the store-floor submission form. Both use the same form and both offer voice.
  • Microphone permission in your browser.

How it works

The voice assistant guides you through the form by spoken conversation, filling fields as you dictate them. It is available to anyone using manual entry: an investigator on the New Incident page and a store associate on the submission form alike.

  1. Start the voice assistant from the incident form.
  2. Grant microphone permission if your browser asks. If you refuse, the form is still fully usable by typing: only voice is unavailable.
  3. Speak your answers. The assistant fills the matching fields as you go.

What the assistant does

  • Fills fields partially. Any field you did not answer is left as it was, not blanked.
  • Reads back the form. You can ask it what is currently entered, so you can confirm or correct a value mid-conversation.
  • Checks the store number. It checks a spoken store number against the stores you are actually allowed to use and tells you if the number is not one of them. Because speech recognition is imperfect, it has a separate "didn't catch that" response: it asks again rather than telling you a valid store is invalid.

Good to know

  • The assistant is a convenience, never the final check. When you submit, the platform re-checks the store number, and the authoritative organization and territory rules are applied at save time. So even if the spoken check could not run and accepted a number, an out-of-territory or cross-organization store is still refused on save.
  • Voice-guided entry works alongside the barcode scanner: you can dictate most of the form and scan products.
