Access bands
Summary: You will learn what access bands are, which band each tab belongs to, and what your role's bands let you read, write, and export.
Getting into the accident-reports feature is only the first gate. A second layer, the access band, decides which content of a report you actually see, and whether you can change it. A band is a named audience your role holds; every tab belongs to exactly one band.
The six bands
- Scene: the contemporaneous facts anyone at the scene needs: event details, the S.A.F.E. inspection, and evidence/attachments.
- People: identity. Track-dependent: the employee's identity on the workers'-comp track, the claimant's on the customer track. A role can hold People on one track and not the other.
- Claim covers the claims-handling content: employment and wage, treatment, claim and filing, the claim journal, and outcome. This is also the band a write to any part of a report is gated on.
- Prevention: root cause, corrective action (CAPA), and the footage-review gate; Risk/Safety's audience.
- Legal: the litigation block. Deliberately its own band so litigation exposure is never bundled into a Claim grant by accident.
- Record: never granted directly; it is derived. Anyone with any band sees exports and history (each still filtered to the bands they hold); someone with no band sees neither.

Two consequences follow:
- A general-liability report is a strict subset of a workers'-comp report for every role on the Scene-only line. Those roles hold People only on the employee track, so a general-liability report shows them Scene content and nothing else: there is no claimant identity for them to see.
- A reader holding no band on a report does not see the report at all: not in the list, not in detail. Store associates, the only zero-band role, never read a report they filed.
The write rule
A write to any section of a report (a correction to the account, the S.A.F.E. block, a subject, or the report itself), requires the Claim band, not merely edit permission. This is why Regional and District Asset Protection Managers, who can create a report, cannot correct or delete one once filed: Claim is not among their bands. The one exception is the Legal tab, whose writes are gated on the Legal band specifically.
What bands mean for exports
You can generate only the export documents whose every printed section falls inside bands you hold. A Scene-band-only reader is entitled to exactly one document, the Store copy, on either track; the other four each need at least the Claim band. See Export accident documents.
