Work with the Network tab
Summary: You will read and shape the Network tab: an interactive graph of the people, companies, places, and vehicles on a case.
The Network tab (marked 🕸️) maps the entities on a case as nodes connected by typed links, so you can see how a network is organized at a glance.
What the graph shows
Entities (nodes): individual members, organizations (LLCs, shell companies, warehouses), marketplace sellers and listings, addresses and locations, family clusters, and vehicles.
A member's role in the network decides how prominently it is drawn: a principal (labeled PRIMARY TARGET) is most prominent, then fences and booster coordinators, then boosters, then associates (dimmed). A member flagged as the primary target is always drawn as a principal.
Links (edges) are one of five kinds, each drawn distinctly so you can read the kind without clicking: goods flow, money flow, control or ownership, family tie, and general association. Every link shows a confidence on a five-step scale and two flags: whether an investigator has confirmed it, and whether it was proposed by AI.
Control what is shown
View modes control which links are drawn: Confirmed only, Unconfirmed only, Full (both, the default), and Extended (Full plus entities that have no visible links, so nothing is silently missing).
Mode presets narrow the picture: Full Network, Money Trail, Command Structure, and Goods Flow.
Layout shapes: tree vertical (default), tree horizontal, radial, and clusters (swimlanes by operational stage). Your chosen shape is remembered in your own browser, per device: it is not an account preference and does not follow you to another machine.
Natural-language filter: a text field above the canvas accepts plain-English phrases such as "show fences and money flow" or "how are Acme and Baruch connected." The graph narrows to what you describe. A follow-up phrase that reads as a refinement ("also add the boosters," "except the shell companies") modifies the current selection; anything else starts fresh. A phrase that matches nothing leaves the current view in place and says so: it never empties the canvas.
Shape the graph
Select Regenerate Network (AI) to ask the platform to arrange the entities by role and propose relationships it infers. If the AI layout fails, a plain grid or swimlane layout is drawn instead: the graph is never left blank.
Select Rebuild & Regenerate to discard the current entities and links and rebuild them from the case's members and organizations, then run the AI layout. This is destructive to manual graph edits: use it deliberately.
Edit entities and links
Add an entity through a short form (a display name, a kind, and a confidence). Add a link by naming its two ends, a kind, a score, and notes. Click a node or link to open a side pane for editing it and acting on it.
Three actions have distinct meanings:
- Confirm: locks the item as established fact. A confirmed item survives every AI regeneration.
- Dismiss: a soft removal, offered only for unconfirmed, AI-proposed items. Your own entries cannot be dismissed, only deleted.
- Delete: permanent, available on any item.
Export the graph
Select Export as PNG to download the graph as an image, named for the current date. There is no PDF, SVG, or spreadsheet export of the graph.
