Use the Case Intelligence tab

Summary: You will run the case gap analysis, then work through the gaps it finds: resolving or dismissing each one.

The Case Intelligence tab runs an on-demand AI pass over everything recorded on a case and lists specific gaps in the investigation. Each gap is stored as its own item with its own lifecycle, so you can work and close it like a task rather than read it once and lose it.

Run the analysis

  1. Open the Case Intelligence tab. A case with no analysis yet shows an Analyze Case button and nothing else.
  2. Select Analyze Case. The pass reads across the whole case: every entity, its BOLOs, its linked incidents (including their suspects, witnesses, vehicles, products, and connections), sellers, and the text of its documents.
  3. When it finishes, the gaps appear.

A run returns 5 to 15 gaps. If a run fails, the tab tells you why: a failed run is never presented as a run that found nothing.

The kinds of gap

TypeFocus
Investigative Step 🔎Surveillance not conducted, warrants not obtained, interviews missing
Relationship Gap 🧩Undocumented connections between members, unclear organization roles, fence-to-buyer links
Financial Gap 💰Untraced money flow, undocumented fence revenue, missing bank records

Gaps are shown with filter chips per type (each showing its count of open items), a Show/Hide Resolved toggle, and sorting from high to low priority.

Work a gap

A gap is Open when created. You can:

  • Resolve it: this records who resolved it and when.
  • Dismiss it: this requires a free-text reason, so a dismissal is never anonymous or unexplained.

Either state can be reopened later.

Re-analyze

Running the analysis again adds only genuinely new findings, matched by title. A run that finds nothing new says so in words ("no new gaps found") rather than reporting zero as if it were a result.

Who can use it

  • Run the analysis, and resolve, dismiss, or reopen a gap: Administrators, Supervisors, Managers, Investigators, and Store Coordinators: any role that can edit the case's data.
  • View gaps: every role that can open the case, which adds Platform Administrators, ORC Analysts, Auditors, Viewers, and External Partners. They see the findings but cannot change a gap's state or trigger a run.
  • Regional and District Asset Protection Managers reach no case, so they never reach this tab.

Edge state: the tab shows the Analyze Case button to everyone, including view-only roles. The permission is checked when the button is pressed, so a Viewer or External Partner who presses it gets a permission error rather than seeing a disabled control. This is current behavior, not the intended design.
